Child of Light Review

Even in our darkest moments if we look hard enough theres a spark of light.

Of all the games I played in 2014, I think this one is my favorite. This game tells the story of a little princess who wakes up in a strange fantasy world that she must save. It's really refreshing to see a Princess saving herself and not the other way around! The world the artwork and the storytelling are BEAUTIFUL. Every line in the game is literally a verse of poetry. It's not always perfect but it's still awfully cute. Aurora is adorable and there are plenty of awesome characters you'll meet along the way.

The combat is a pretty basic. It's Turned based like Final Fantasy with a couple twists. It's not very hard and if you have ever played a video game before I reccomend Expert difficulty otherwise the game might end up boring you. The fights get more challenging as the game progresses but aside from boss fights I never really had a problem.

Oh and did I mention the music? The music in this game is incredible. When i first bought the game I listened to the title screen for a while before actually playing <3 Here's a link to the OST if you end up enjoying it as much as me. http://musique.coeurdepirate.com/album/child-of-light

Overall I think this is a great game. I really enjoyed it and reccomend it to anyone who like turned based RPGs and wonderful stories!

Life is Strange Review

In 1982 the question was posed "Can a computer make you cry?" Well here in 2015 the answer is yes. And without a doubt this game will make you go through a full range of emotions. DONTNOD has made another game with a fantastic story but this time they did everything a lot better.

Life is Strange is a game that should capture you within the first 15 minutes of playing, and if you are a hard sell then by the end of the first chapter you should be hooked. The story starts off strong and finishes even stronger. The games setting takes place in a small bay town that almost seems trapped in another time. I particulary got a 90s vibe, but perhaps that's just me. The soundtrack is fantastic and almost seems to capture the setting perfectly, the music almost seems out of time itself.

The main tenet of this game is that you have the ability to rewind time at any point. Think The Butterfly Effect only way way better. There is no combat which is great because as proved in DONTNODs previous game Remenber Me, that's not really their thing. The rewind ability is simple to use and opens up a lot of possiblities while your out exploring the world.

You play as a atypical young woman in highschool who almost seems to redefine what a female protaganist has to be. She has a personality that isn't your typical female role in a video game, or in life rather. I found a lot of myself in her and really enjoyed the character overall. You'll meet a lot of strong characters in this game, and might just find yourself falling in love with a few of them in a short time.

For a game about time travel it stays pretty grounded in reality, and offers a lot of twists and turns along the way. I truly reccomend this game to anyone looking for a good story that will take you on a wild and heart-wrenching ride.
